Delete your account
Everything you built, removed for good — with seven days in which you can change your mind.
Last updated 30 August 2026
01How to delete your account
Deletion is done from inside the app, because it needs your password to confirm that it is you asking. It takes about a minute.
- 1Open RateAI and sign in.
- 2Go to Settings, then Account.
- 3Tap Delete account.
- 4Work through the three confirmations: what you are losing, your password, and typing the word DELETE.
If you can no longer sign in — a lost password, a lost device, a disabled account — email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will verify you another way and do it for you.
02The seven-day grace period
Confirming does not destroy anything immediately. Your account is marked for deletion and erased permanently seven days later. The date is shown to you at the moment you confirm.
The moment you confirm, you disappear from the product: you are removed from every rating deck, every leaderboard, every candidate pool and every game. Nobody can find you, rate you or see your profile. The delay exists solely so that a deletion you did not mean — a borrowed phone, a misplaced thumb — is recoverable.
If you sign in during those seven days you land on a single screen that names the date and offers two choices: restore the account, or sign out. Restoring puts everything back exactly as it was. There is no way to accidentally keep using the app while the clock runs.
03What is erased
After seven days the deletion runs unattended and cascades through everything tied to your account:
- Your login, email address and password.
- Your profile — name, birth date, country, bio and preferences.
- Every photo you uploaded, deleted from storage and not just unlinked.
- Every rating you received, and your score history.
- Your XP, level and leaderboard entries.
- Every AI coach conversation, memory and photo analysis.
- Notifications, push tokens, blocks and linked social handles.
Photographs are removed through the storage API rather than by deleting database rows, so the underlying files go too. A failure to remove a file is retried rather than dropped.
04What is not erased, and why
Two things deliberately survive. Both are named in the app before you confirm.
Ratings you gave other people
These stay, with your identity removed from them. Deleting them would silently move other people's averages and ranks — scores they had already been shown, changed retroactively by a stranger's account closure. The rating remains; the link to you does not.
Your subscription
Deleting your RateAI account does not cancel an active subscription, because the subscription lives with Apple or Google rather than with us and we cannot cancel it on your behalf. Cancel it yourself in your App Store or Google Play account settings before deleting, or you will continue to be billed.
05Backups and legal retention
Encrypted database backups may hold residual copies for a short period after erasure as part of normal disaster-recovery rotation. They are not used to restore deleted accounts and age out on their own schedule.
A minimal record of a purchase or a safety enforcement may be retained where we are legally required to keep it — for tax, fraud or abuse purposes. It contains no photographs and no rating history.
